AT&T Updates Early Termination Fee Policies

AT&T today announced a new approach to early termination fees (ETFs) that provides greater flexibility for wireless customers.

Starting on May 25, AT&T’s new and renewing wireless customers who enter into one- or two-year service agreements will no longer be required to pay a single, flat early termination fee. Instead, that fee, which is $175, will be progressively lowered by $5 during each month, every month, for the term of the contract. (The single, flat ETF will continue to apply to new and renewing customers who enter into one- or two-year service agreements prior to May 25.)

AT&T noted that it continues to offer options for those customers who do not want term commitments or ETFs, including:

- Buy a phone at full price and go on a month-to-month service plan

March 31, 2008- The RIM BlackBerry 9000 is the newest version of BlackBerry on the market. The BlackBerry 9000 has also been refered to as the new 3.5G BlackBerry. This new design from RIM features a QWERTY style keyboard that is standard for most BlackBerry designs as well as the track ball navigation system that allows user to find their way through menus and options quickly and easy. The screen is a large clear screen that that will make picture and option viewing convenient and fun. However, a new innovation with this handset is the slide deck interface that is now featured taking the place of previous versions’ menu/icon setup.

Sony Films Headed to AT&T Phones

Sony Pictures Television today announced a deal with AT&T and MediaFLO to launch the first domestic network for mobile phones that will feature contemporary films.

The channel, to be known as PIX, will be stocked with such titles as “Ghostbusters,” “Philadelphia” and “Stand by Me.” Viewers will be able to watch their favorite comedies, classics, action films and family favorites from the studio’s library. Subscribers of AT&T Mobile TV, launching in May, will be able to access PIX on their AT&T mobile phones.

“PIX will give viewers their own personal movie theater wherever they take their mobile phones,” said Eric Berger, vice president, mobile entertainment, Sony Pictures Television. “With an incredible library of quality Hollywood hits, it’s a mobile destination channel for convenient, enjoyable entertainment, and the latest offering in SPT’s distinctive portfolio of mobile games and video.”

AT&T today announced the Sony Ericsson Z750a, a stylish mirrored clamshell with a hidden exterior display that illuminates when the phone is in use. As Sony Ericsson’s first 3G/HSDPA handset for the U.S. market, the Z750a features mobile broadband for a high-speed Internet connection and access to multimedia content that complements its multimedia player, 2.0-megapixel camera, Internet browser and email capability using AT&T’s Mobile Email application.
