How Many MSI Wind Clones Can You Count?

There is no doubt that the MSI Wind is one of the best netbooks around. Besides being the LAPTOP Editor’s Choice in the 10-inch netbook category the company has sold thousands of the little laptops. (MSI would not release the number of Winds sold as they  “do not release sales data for individual products or […]

Nokia to Buy Oz Communications

Finnish cell phone maker Nokia said today it will buy mobile messaging company Oz Communications to give consumers access to instant messaging services and emails through their mobile devices.

Users will be able to access AOL, Gmail, ICQ, Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo.

Privately owned Oz is headquartered in Montreal and has about 220 employees. Nokia said it was attracted by the Canadian company’s technology that lets handset users tap into familiar computing programs from Microsoft, Google and Yahoo.

“With OZ, Nokia is renewing its mission of Connecting People by enabling consumers to easily connect and communicate using their favorite Internet communities,” said Niklas Savander, Head of Nokia Services & Software. “OZ’s team and technology will help Nokia to address the fast growing consumer messaging market.”

Oz, which has been working with Nokia since 2003, also has relationships with mobile operators such as AT&T, France Telecom’s Orange and Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile […]

LG KP500 Affordable Touch Screen Phone Launched

LG Electronics today announced the launch of KP500, an affordable handset with touch screen technology.

Advanced handwriting recognition writes memos and text messages, and edit photo images by touching the screen with the pen tip. A QWERTY onscreen keyboard slides into view when the KP500 is held horizontally, and the auto rotating display always shifts images or documents for proper viewing.

Motion sensor games are played by turning, flipping, and shifting the handset for a more active and fun gaming experience.

The KP500 has the latest UI that allows users to attach a friend’s photo for the speed dial feature, then page through the portraits and touch the friend to be called.

“We optimized the user interface to keep the tactile operations smooth and simple which is necessary when you’re opening up a new technology to a wide group of people,” said Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile.

The slim KP500 is a GSM […]

Nokia bidding Business solutions biz farewell

In a somewhat unexpected move, Nokia has announced that it will stop developing and marketing its own business mobility solution, and will sell its security appliances business to an interested investor.

What this basically means is that it’s the end of the road for Nokia’s business solutions department, as the company has expressed their intent to focus their resources and efforts in further strengthening their hold in the consumer market as their efforts in the business sector seemed to have fallen short of being deemed successful. I guess we should have figured that something was up when they recently released Microsoft Exchange support for their S60-running phones.
Anyway, I wonder how this will impact their entire business mobile phone line, the E-series, as it relies heavily on Nokia’s own business solution software. I guess we’ll more or less know the answer to that question in the months to come.

Samsung A637 Milky - Small, but terrible (in a good way)

What you’re looking at folks is the Samsung A637 Milky. Based on the image, it’s either the guys holding it has some big pair of hands, or the Milky is indeed a small mobile phone.

Anyway, if its looks don’t exactly impress you, maybe its feature will. It’s got dual-band EDGE and WCDMA (850/1900MHz), Bluetooth with A2DP, 1.3-megapixel camera, video sharing, web browser, and a ton of multimedia features. There’s no mention of its price, but it probably won’t cost that much. It’s confirmed with AT&T, but we’re not sure if it will become available elsewhere.

I reckon this will be a hit amongst parents and teens who value size, style and function. With its simplistic design and decent feature set, the Milky is indeed one small wonder.

LG KC780 press photo surfaces, official details to follow

It looks like the LG KC780 is nearing its official debut as this press photo has now suddenly surfaced revealing the slider and all of its detail.

Nope, that camera lens beside it is not compatible with the phone, but the KC780 is vying for the title of the slimmest 8-megapixel camera phone to date. I guess we’ll know soon enough if indeed it has what it takes to upstart the Samsung M8800, but for now, you can scrutinize its design and strangely similar it looks to the HTC Touch Dual.
