And I thought my Blackberry was expensive! Try a Diamond Crypto Smart phone, created by Peter Aloisson, complete with a platinum shell, 50 diamonds including 10 rare blue diamonds and a navigation key made entirely out of 15 carot rose gold! The price? A mere $1.3 million.
Motorola RAZR fans can choose between a free phone or a Diamond Edition Dolce & Gabbana V3, featuring a mind blowing 855 diamonds encrusting a 24K gold flip shell weighing in at 3.8 carats and also designed by Peter Aloisson.

These are modified, specially commissioned phones for the ultra-rich, for that small group of folks who live among the rarified air of crazy money. But as artistic creations these phones are truly beautiful to behold.

Mobile Phone Sommeliers Coming to Japan

As far as world leaders go, its hard to argue that Japan takes top honors in the cell phone game. Many of the mobile technologies we can only dream about here in Canada and the US are already everyday fixtures in Japan. More than 100 million Japanese use a cell phone and an amazing 70 million of those 100 are using the mobile web on a regular basis.

With such a large appetite for mobile technology comes a large number of manufacturers eager to serve. The result is choice. Lots of it. If you’ve ever wandered the streets of Akihabara in Tokyo you’ll know that means literally thousands of choices, not hundreds. So…how does one decide on a new handset? He gets a little help from an expert of course.
Enter the mobile phone sommelier!
According to the AFP, Japan’s communications ministry will soon begin a licensing program (with examination procedures) that […]

Comics on Mobile: a Good Idea

Enough has been said about gaming taking the traditional market of comic books. We love gaming on mobiles and unlike printed paper, gaming was on mobile way before comics. Marvel may be contemplating giving comics arc nemesis a taste of its own medicine when it announced its interest in putting content to mobile phones. It’s not too difficult imagining reading X-Men or the Fantastic 4 on your iPhone, but as Borat is fond of saying, “How much?”

Warning: May be Addictive to Children

The Japanese government may be the first government to acknowledge the addicting effect of cellphones, especially to kids. They’ begun a programme that warns parents to put a curb to WiFi-enabled cellphones.
Children and mobile phones can be a dangerous combination. Among the worries of the Japanese government are young people being tempted into committing cyber crimes, using their cellphones email function for too long and the overall bad effect of long-term cellphone overuse.
Parents probably will not go as far as confiscating cellphones or removing WiFi access. But a filtering system for Internet use on kids’ mobiles may be a good solution.
