Sony Ericsson releases GreenHeart concept phone

Doing their share to come up with more environmental friendly devices (and to probably to get some approval points from Green Peace as well), Sony Ericsson has revealed their very first GreenHeart concept phone.

It features a chassis made of bio-plastic materials, recycled plastic keypads, HTML based manuals, a zero charge with 3.5mQ standby power and environmentally conscious packaging. Yeah, it all sounds good and all for the environment, and I must say, the phone doesn’t look bad either. My only contention with all this propaganda that Sony Ericsson is doing is that it’s not commercially available. What good is an eco-friendly phone if the public isn’t using it?
Oh well, maybe they’ll release it to the market by next year, but for now, I’ll give them an A- for effort. The A+ grade will come when it does get offered to the public already.

M2E introduces motion-powered chargers, batteries

With mobile phones becoming a necessity in the 21st century, the need for a renewable energy source for such devices is slowly becoming imminent as well. Not only will it benefit consumers, but will also be a great help in promoting a greener tomorrow for our children. One such company who shares the same view is finally reaping the rewards of their efforts.

M2E is currently in the process of testing out prototypes of what could be the future of mobile phone charging. Unlike traditional chargers that plug into AC outlets, their units gather power from human motion tapping the vast and limitless potential of kinetic energy, and they’ve got good news for us. They’ll be able to release a charger by next year that can harvest enough energy to charge mobile phones and other small gadgets. According to them, six hours of accumulated motion can add as much […]

Samsung Showcases Eco-friendly phones

Samsung is taking green devices to a whole new level with the E200 Eco edition.

At first glance, it already looks quite impressive with its slender 9.9mm body, but what truly sets this new iteration of the E200 apart from the rest is the bio-plastic material used to create its outer body. It contains natural plant-based material extracted from plants. The packaging as well will feature a non-coated recycled paper box that’ll complement the environment-friendly theme of the E200 Eco. It was unveiled at the OR@S (Olympic Rendezvous @ Samsung) in Beijing.

Two other eco-friendly phones were also showcased at the event: the W510 and the F268. The F268, for its part, is the first BFR/PVC free mobile phone with its included charger and headset touting the same recognition. Furthermore, it also features an alarm that’ll notify users that the phone is fully charged so they can unplug […]
